Starting a new blog
Hey guys, remember that time I decided to start a new blog? It’s here!
My name is Meg and this will be my first post here, so I’ll try to make it a good one. I don’t really consider myself a writer, but I have been journaling off and on for about as long as I’ve known how to write. I’ve been keeping online journals and blogs since I was a teenager. I remember the early days of Diaryland (is that even still a thing?), Livejournal, and Blogger. However, I’d never looked at them as anything more than a place to record my thoughts. I never really thought about building an audience or a business based on any of my blogs. Sometimes I didn’t even really want people to see my posts.
As I got older, I fell out of journaling entirely. I was so busy with school, work, and other projects. I grew and changed a lot over the years, but in the back of my mind I always thought about blogging again. For a while I wanted to use my Tumblr account as a personal blog, but it just doesn’t really feel like the right medium for the job. Most bloggers use WordPress(.org), and since I already have my own domain it made sense to try it for myself.
My other problem was that I didn’t know what to write about. There are blogs on just about every topic out there. So before I threw this blog together, I spent about a week researching and thinking about what I wanted to do. I’m planning for this to be a cosplay lifestyle blog, but we’ll see how it evolves. I’m still not quite sure what I’m doing or how to make my blog stand out, but that’s okay. At this point I’ve wasted too much time thinking about things instead of just doing them.
So here I am, trying something new and fun and hoping to learn as I go. I don’t know if anyone will actually read this, but if you’re out there I hope you’ll join me. Try whatever thing you’ve been wanting to do but haven’t started yet. If 2017’s taught me anything, it’s that amazing things can happen when you put yourself out there and just do it. 😉
